*** email to all clubs in competition 2nd March 2012 ***

Hi All,

This season, we have decided to send much of the information for the National Christian Cup & Trophy to all competing clubs by Email rather than by the Postal Service. This obviously saves in terms of time in getting envelopes sorted and photocopying all info as well as saving on costs in posting letters.

I have this theory that more people are likely to read a letter in the hand rather than an attachment on an email!!? The progress of Technology or not!?! However, please prove me wrong!

SO, I need ALL competing teams to be DILIGENT to actually open up all the attachments that we send by email and read them thoroughly!!

The reporting of 3rd Round Matches with the NEW SYSTEM by most Clubs was good, although I still had to chase a few Clubs!! Please can all Clubs in the NCC/NCT 3rd Round (winning or losing!) be diligent to send in their reports on time!!

So, I enclose 2 Documents:

1) All the NCC/NCT 3rd Round Match Reports/Results and Amended Quarter Final Draws in a PDF Document. ** Web viewers - see reports pages ** Please read and forward to all your players please!!

2) For those Teams still left in the Competitions, I enclose a Match Report & Result Card in Word.doc format. This must be sent back immediately after the match and no later than 4 days after please! Either send it as a Word Attachment or just copy the Word.Doc and send as text in an email please! BUT PLEASE USE THE FORMAT IN THE WORD.DOC!

Please help us with this.

For those Clubs playing in the NCC or NCT 3rd Round match - A reminder of the foundation of Christian-based Football:

All Clubs to honour the NCC/NCT by playing according to The High Standards of Conduct Rule (2c), which states:
i) Playing each game in a spirit that gives glory to God,
ii) Playing in a sporting manner, with no reckless or excessive challenges,
iii) Not seeking to be contentious with opponents or to initiate any conflict,
iv) Seeking to ensure there is no bad language or swearing in any match,
v) Seeking to be respectful to the Referee and Assistants/Club Linesmen, accepting their decisions with grace and not showing them any dissent or abuse.

The WINNING CLUB rings the result to the CIF Office, 01442 270300, by 5.30pm on the DAY of the GAME please!

May God Bless our games together and let us really aim to play for His Glory in every way, in attempting to effectively reach our many not yet Christian friends in our teams!

Cheers,

Keith Hammond
NCC Exec.

*** Update 30th January 2012 ***

ROUND 3 RESULTS / QUARTER FINAL DRAW UP TO DATE

Reports for Round Two posted - see reports pages - Message to clubs below

There were a few surprises in the 2nd Round with Genesis (Loughborough) going out, although to a strong Killamarsh St Giles (Sheffield) side. New Life (Croydon) and Westside (Wandsworth) both went out along with former Winners/Finalists, Focus (Liverpool), FC Bootle (Liverpool) and Billingham Crusaders (Durham). Both last seasons National Trophy Finalists, Christchurch Ware (Herts) and Southborough Lane (Kent) also found the exit door!

In the 3rd Round, there are now 6 teams from the Merseyside League, 4 in the top half of the draw and 2 in the bottom half but this time there are no all Liverpool derbies! There are 2 teams from both the Bromley & Croydon League and the Herts League, with 1 team each from the Chiltern League, the Coventry League, the North East League, the Sheffield League and the South Manchester/Cheshire League. The other team is the only team left from a secular League, the West Herts League.

Some of the favourites include current champions, Breckfield Crusaders (Liverpool) plus others from the Mersey- side League. Teams that won/runners-up in their respective Leagues last season such as FC Cornerstone (Steve- nage), Killamarsh St Giles (Sheffield), St Peters Low Fell (Newcastle), St Thomass (Coventry) and Toft Tornados (Cheshire) will be strong contenders but most others in the last 16, will clearly be up for the challenge as well!!

In the Trophy, it continues to be difficult to work out who could be the favourites for the title as only one team had a big victory, Shardlow St James (Derby). It appears that all teams left in the competition have a good chance of going a long way, as each 3rd Round Tie is expected to be very tight affair!

There are teams from a wide range of Church Leagues: 3 from the Southern Area League, 2 from the Herts League (who now play each other!), 2 from the Merseyside League, 2 from the Derbyshire League, 1 from the Norfolk League and 2 from the North East League. There is 1 team each from the Chiltern League and the Yorkshire League. The other 2 teams are from Secular Leagues, the Cambridgeshire League and the East Sussex League.

We remind you to that all games are to be played in a great spirit, representing well the Christian-based Competi- tion. Just to remind all teams, that if indiscipline is shown in any National Christian Competition match, teams may be scrutinised by an Independent Match Observer, which could lead to expulsion! Already, one team in the National Christian Trophy have been observed! Please ensure that all NCC games are played in the right spirit! Thanks.

*** Update 19th December 2011 ***

Message to all participating clubs

Currently there is just ONE 2nd Round game to be played, in both Competitions!! Remarkable, if you compare this to last season, if you can remember, the many snow falls, freezing temperatures and resulting flooded pitches! It was carnage, with over 20 of the 32 Second Round games not played until after Christmas! This year we go and get one of the warmest Autumns ever! What a great country we live in. Keeps us on our toes!

To all those teams still left in the 2011/2012 National Christian Cup & National Christian Trophy, all details of your opponents will be sent out this Wednesday 21st December, unless of course you have already received them.

Secondly, I continue talked to a lot people in the Christians in Football Network about meeting up with all the key leaders of every Church League / Christian-based Team in the Country at some point in the near future. The plan is to hold a series of Network Conferences in 2012, one for those Leagues in the North / North Midlands, one for those Leagues in the South / South Midlands and also one for Christian-based Clubs that play in Secular Leagues. This is a very exciting possibility, where we will be able to meet together to share experiences, help and encourage each other and work towards best practice for us all in the Christian Football Network. I am in the process of arranging venues and dates but will keep you up to speed, soon, with all future developments! Watch this space!

Thirdly, I enclose (below) the "Christians in Football" Ministry Newsletter / my Family News, the "Hammond Herald" , if you are interested!?

Have a great Christmas and may we all know God's Abundant Grace at this time.

Cheers,

Keith Hammond

CIF Director.

*** Update 7th November 2011 ***

1st Round Results in - 2nd Round Draw available

*** email to all participating clubs on 11th October 2011 ***

Hi All,

Well, this is a very historic moment, as the National Christian Cup celebrates it's 20th season and the National Christian Trophy, it's 5th Year!

After many emails and phone calls, again promoting the National Christian Football Competitions and preparing for the draw, we are very pleased to announce that we have an entry of 94 teams for 2011/2012! When we decided to develop the National Christian Cup into 2 Competitions and start the National Christian Trophy in 2007, we were aiming at around 80 to 90 teams. The 2007 entry of 81 was excellent but in the past 3 seasons we have received around or over 100 entries. This season we have had 94 teams enter.

This season, we have actually seen 11 teams that entered last season, leave the National Christian Football Network altogether, because they realised that they were not really fulfilling the requirements of being a Christian-based Football Club. Coupled to the fact that quite a few teams have not entered this season in order to refresh and rebuild the vision of their Club and others because of financial restraints, then I find this number of teams very encouraging.

For me, there is a sense of pruning, in order that the "Christian Football Tree" will get stronger as well as bigger! Of the 94 Christian-based Teams, there are 39 Teams in the National Cup and 55 teams in the National Trophy. This is fantastic and we give thanks to the Lord! Also a big thank-you for your patience in waiting for the draw.

The draw is enclosed below in full, for both the Cup and Trophy. It was made at the 2011 SCORE Football Chaplains Conference at Lilleshall last week, so thanks to the Chaplains from Bradford City, Burnley, Gillingham and Norwich City for their help and great banter!!

The draw will also be sent out by post and will be put on the Christians in Football Website - www.christiansinfootball.org (temporarily on this page - Webmaster)

As you know, the Competition's 1st Round is on Saturday 29th October 2011. We are sending emails at the end of this week / beginning of next week to give details of your opponents. However, if you cannot play on October 30th you must make make immediate contact with us here at CIF by email and then we will forward that information onto your opponents!

You will also notice that there are some teams that do not have games for that day, as they have received a bye. If your team has a bye into the 2nd Round and are also playing a team who have also received a bye (there are 10 such ties), then you are free to play on October 29th if you wish but both teams will have to agree to this situation. If that is the case, then obviously there will be a spare date later in the Competition but you may prefer to get the games out of the way whilst the weather is better - well that is the theory!!? Contact us immediately if you want to play a 2nd round game on October 29th.

May God bless our games together and let us really aim to play for His Glory in every way, to attempt to effectively reach our many non-Christian friends in our teams!

Cheers,

Keith Hammond

NCC Exec.
